Department of Industrial Management

The Department of Industrial Management (DIM) is one of the earliest established departments of the Faculty of Science of University of Kelaniya. It was established in 1967 with the objective of teaching management to students reading for degrees in the Science stream. This has been achieved through the Bachelor of Science in Management and Information Technology (MIT) degree programme offered by the department, integrating management with information technology.

The department also provides the opportunity to follow a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology, to those who are willing to qualify further.
The department has a reputation for challenging the frontiers of knowledge with the support and guidance of its remarkable academic staff and is fully equipped with facilities of modern classrooms, advanced laboratories, and an international theological library.

The DIM was awarded ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certificate in 2020, which proves its journey of excellence.
The students along with the assistance of the academic staff have formed the Industrial Management Science Students’ Association (IMSSA), which provides opportunities for students to develop their leadership and communication skills through the implementation of projects such as guest lectures, InfoStudio sessions, and field visits. It also allows members to interact with the industry by organizing events such as HackX, HackX Jr., and Exposition.
